Steady Foundations exists to help people through a hard moment. Some of what you tell us in order to get that help is sensitive, so this page sets out plainly what we collect, why, who sees it, and what we will never do with it.
On this page
1. What we collect
We only collect what you choose to send us through one of the three forms on this site.
If you request help
- Your name and a way to reach you (an email address or a phone number).
- The kind of help you need, and whatever you choose to tell us about your situation.
You decide how much to write. You do not need to prove hardship to us in order to ask.
If you pledge a donation
- Your name, your email address, the amount, and whether it is one-time or monthly.
We do not currently process payments on this website. A pledge made here is a record of intent, not a transaction. No card, bank or payment details are collected or stored by us, because there is nowhere on this site to enter them. When online giving opens, we will use an established payment processor and your payment details will go to them directly, never through our own servers.
If you offer to volunteer
- Your name, email address, an optional phone number, what you can help with, your general availability, and anything else you choose to add.
Automatically
Our web server keeps standard request logs, and our content delivery provider, Cloudflare, processes requests to this site in order to serve and protect it. We do not run advertising trackers, and we do not use third-party analytics products on this site.
2. Why we collect it
- To respond to you. We cannot follow up on a request for help without a way to reach you.
- To verify a need and arrange a solve. This sometimes means confirming details with a contractor, a landlord, a utility or a training provider.
- To keep records a nonprofit is required to keep, including records of gifts and of how funds were used.
- To thank donors and send receipts once online giving is live.
3. Who can see it
Submissions go to a private staff console that requires a Google sign-in from an approved account. Only approved Steady Foundations staff and directors can open it.
We share the minimum necessary with third parties in only these situations:
- To deliver the help you asked for — for example giving a contractor the address of the repair, or a training provider your enrolment details. We tell you when this is needed.
- Service providers who run our infrastructure — our hosting provider, our email provider, and Cloudflare. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- When the law requires it, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent physical harm.
4. What we never do
- We never sell, rent or trade your personal information. Not to anyone, for any price.
- We never publish your name, story or photograph without your specific, separate, written permission — and you can withdraw that permission afterwards.
- We never send the details of a help request over an insecure notification channel. Our internal alerts say only that a request arrived; the details stay behind the sign-in.
- We never make receiving help conditional on agreeing to publicity, an interview, or a testimonial.
5. How long we keep it
We keep help requests and volunteer records for as long as we are working with you, and afterwards only as long as we need them for our own accountability and reporting. Donation records are kept as long as tax and charity rules require. If you ask us to delete something and we are not required to keep it, we will delete it.
6. Analytics and cookies
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's font servers to fetch them. Cloudflare may set a cookie strictly necessary for security and bot filtering.
7. Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email [email protected] and we will respond. You do not need a lawyer, a form, or a particular phrase to make that request — just ask.
You can also ask us to stop contacting you at any time, and that will not affect any help already in progress.
8. Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13. A parent or guardian can of course tell us about a household that includes children as part of a request for help.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we handle information you have already given us, we will make a reasonable effort to tell you directly.
